Yes, there are some foods that will help your body burn fat, stay leaner and even lower your LDL cholesterol. Some of these foods are high in calories but remember, as long as you are staying within your maximum daily calorie consumption, there is no way they will make you fat, on the contrary. Just eat the high calories ones in moderation.

Almonds

They are high in fat but also high in protein, dietary fiber, calcium (which has been also shown to improve weight loss), phosphorus and Vitamin E. Furthermore, the type of fat found in almonds is monounsaturated which is the fat type found on the Mediterranean diet. Just replace a number of the calories you are consuming daily for almonds and you will lose more fat than if you were eating anything else in their place.

Apples

Apples contain a form of fiber (pectin) that lowers LDL cholesterol and regulates blood sugar and in doing so, it helps your metabolism burn more fat, in fact a study in Brazil directly links apples to weight loss.

Beans

Beans are high in fiber and fiber helps regulate blood sugar among other things such as helping you keep your colon clean.

Cinnamon

The active ingredient in cinnamon is MHCP and it works like insulin inside the body lowering not only blood sugar but also LDL (bad cholesterol).

Garlic

A study done with rats concluded that allicin, an active ingredient in garlic prevented weight gain and also lowered triglycerides on rats fed a “high fructose diet”, furthermore, it lowered the insulin levels on the control groups taking allicin.

Grapefruit

Has been proven to help with weight loss and insulin resistance, now if you want to lower your LDL levels as well, you need to eat the red grapefruit. You will lose weight if you eat the grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice. You can even take capsules with grapefruit extract as all these forms were proven to work but people who had the grapefruit lost the most weight in the same amount of time.

Green Tea

Green tea will help you if you want to lose weight; in fact, some experts say that green tea will stimulate your metabolism way more than caffeine alone. Green tea also contains theanine which has been shown to release dopamine in the brain.

Hot peppers

For starters peppers are low in calories themselves, stimulate the metabolism and they even raise your endorphin levels. The ingredient in peppers believed to do all this is capsaicin. Capsaicin has been included in creams for pain because it is a vaso dilatator that raises the temperature of the area where it is applied but it doesn’t stop there. Parsley

It is known to be a detoxifying herb and a diuretic. It has been used for some time to lower the blood sugar in turkey and new studies have shown it can also be very helpful in weight loss.

Sesame seeds

They contain the lignans sesamin and sesaminol which help improve lipid profiles and enhance the burning of fat by helping the liver break down the stored fat cells. They also help reduce cholesterol in both, blood serum and liver.
